I would like to welcome the new
subscribers to this list and hope you find these letters useful.
There is an old alchemical term known as the Philosopher’s Stone. A
substance reported to have the unusual capabilities of turning the
baser elements of metal into gold or silver depending on the need.
While it is not obvious in this letter, we will discover
shortly the nature of this quality having great importance upon our
work. In addition to the Philosopher’s Stone being of such substance
and in this case I will use also the term “Quality” whereas one
individual may develop these qualities will also exhibit an attitude
whereby virtue of their imperturbability
appear to be unaffected by the events and/or comments around them.
The purpose of this work is not to dwell too deeply in the
alchemical world. Rather use that as a baseline for the work that we
truly are involved. Which is of course is turning the baser elements
of mankind into the more spiritual attributes through the process of
Spiritual Fire.
Imperturbability is important because it prevents you from being
manipulated by people and/or events around you. The process of
spirituality and its training requires an individual to become
impervious to the assults and actions of those within your spear of
observation.
We must consider some of the actions by others which are likely to
draw us off our particular path.
Some of you already getting pretty good idea where I’m going
with this. I have spoken many times of the issues of judgment and
subservience. The problem with judgment and/or subservience is they
are both wrong. I have also spoken of the intellect and its
capabilities being based upon an unprovable equation having no
constant as its foundation. With this in mind since the process of
assumption is a primary basis by which all things the intellect has
determined to be the case in relating to people places emotions and
so forth, then all judgments are wrong because judgments are based
upon assumptions. In addition, I have to put in here for moment
should is also based upon judgments. Therefore, all shoulds are
wrong. In addition, of course we must make a statement about
self-guilt. The problem with self-guilt is it is invalid also.
The reason is, according to Webster’s dictionary, guilt can
only be obtained if one has been convicted in a court of law and
sentenced.
Now that we determine any possible beliefs of guilt are pretty well
without validation we must also turn our attention to the problem of
judgment and subservience. When we determine another person is
superior to us, then we become subservient. Now I am not talking
about their level of education or maybe their athletic capability,
no. I am talking about the quality each and every human on this
earth has available to them through their breath. There is so much
love understanding compassion in each breath that each individual is
given permission to use that breath any which way they choose. So if
someone wants to work the power they have of the breath in a dark
fashion then that is their right to do so, as it is our right to do
just the opposite.
The problem with subservience is while we may be in harmony in our
breathing and any other meditative sources that we are bringing
forward, is we are always constantly aware of what other people are
thinking and saying about us finding those individuals superior to
ourselves. In doing so our identity is based upon their accepting
us, which is not a path of light, but rather a path of lesser light.
To find ourselves to be superior to another person is no different
from being subservient to another person as your identity is based
upon the other persons reacting to you. Not necessarily a path of
light but of lesser light.
I like to keep these letters about two to no more than five pages
long so I am going to forgo going into great deal regarding the
subservience and/or superiority in detail as that subject could take
ten to fifteen pages, which is not the purpose of this particular
letter.
The interesting thing about imperturbability is a place where one
is in a state where subservience and superiority are no longer
interesting; an individual is not affected by those things brought
forward to their attention.
I am not suggesting that one become an emotional zombie in order to
maintain imperturbability. That is not the purpose of the spiritual
path. However, one problem we run into is when we react to another
individual’s statements and/or actions to such a degree that we are
all consumed by those very words where we are distracted from our
own work.
A typical example would be if somebody offended you in some way or
another, or even if the offense came as a result of some public
statement where an individual makes such statement, and we then run
around being angry because we somehow have been offended. The
problem here is we have made that person our master. By our reaction
and continuing reactions, we have made them more important than
ourselves. You see if
you were practicing a form of imperturbability, you take note of the
information presented offensive or not and then decide on whether
you want to respond to it. If you choose not to respond to it then
you will find yourself not subservient to that person.
If you do decide to respond, it will be on your terms whereas
when one’s response is complete there is no further attention given
to the initial situation. Again, you are not subservient in this
manner.
We have seen many individuals who become completely unwound because
their political candidate did or did not succeed. This has occurred
throughout history and is becoming more of a problem today than ever
before. The individuals are exercising their right to complain, and
complain they will.
However, their potential peaceful existence is completely disrupted
by the events outside of themselves. Much to their chagrin if they
realized they are making a master of the individual and/or events
occurring, it is unlikely they would continue with their complaining
about being offended or other such complaints.
When you exercise imperturbability, you cannot be affected by small
minded individuals knowing full well because the nature of their
actions are an attempt to make you subservient will for the most
part fall on deaf ears. You also discover a different approach will
be available to you on how you perceive those individuals who wish
to do such a thing placing them and the importance of their actions
no similar than that of invasion of cross eyed caterpillars on a
distant island far away.
Shortly I will be preparing another survey where I will be
inquiring as to your satisfaction of the work I have done in private
sessions. The primary reason is, many of the private sessions while
including a follow-up phone call to make sure everything on the list
was completed for some reason the phone calls were not always
completed and probably for good reason, possibly because is all
things were completed. If they are not I would like to know. If we
have missed something, nine times out of ten I can take care of it
over the phone in about five or ten minutes.
In the bonds of the work I am,
Charles
