Nature of the Work 1998 |
With all the hoopla about the many different techniques, and not to
mention the various "Master advised teachers," "those chosen to lead by
the various Masters, Angels, or even Aliens" advertised as to the "True
means to enlightenment for humanity," "Healing from the Masters"; confusion
is an expected result. Why should you spend your time reading another view?
After all, in many ways it might resemble that which has already been said
or claimed.
The only thing that matters is the Nature of the Work. Personalities are
not part of the picture here. Just the "Work." Well, you may ask then.
"What is the Nature of the Work?" Simply put, it is that expression that
emulates through the function of Spiritual Law and associated principles,
whereby realization of that Law becomes common place.
Knowing Law, all things are in balance. Not knowing Law, all things are
still in balance. The annoyance is that sometimes we are not quite sure
that we understand the function of Law. You might wonder that when all
things are in balance, through the functioning of Law, manifestation occurs
in such a way that can be observed just as well today as in ancient times.
A valid expression of law manifests according to Law and, therefore, is
what it is under all conditions.
Spiritual Law is itself the function of that which is the character or nature
of what it manifests. In its purity, all things are in balance, therefore
there is no condition that is without. The fact, that manifestation is
complete, has eluded many for centuries. Or has it? If we are to know
that all things are, and become aware of the function of Law, then we would
naturally know the conditions of all that there is.
When people determine that they are lacking in some understanding, then the
next best thing they think to do is to convince others that what they think
is correct, is true. The more we convince the greater our faith in what
we think we know. This perpetuation of that which is lacking—has caused
great violence against people who would not go along with the accepted ideals.
This is not to state one way or another that the ideals are wrong, but to
make a statement and not a judgment, of a condition of many people that
have not the understanding of the absolute nature of spiritual Law.
If we look at the attributes of described “Angels”, “Masters”, and others
of like condition, several things stand out: complete understanding, compassion,
love, and light, are prevalent in all.
If you look at the idea of "complete understanding," you would have to ask
yourself, "How can one have complete understanding, without some type of
first-hand knowledge of the experience?” Understanding, compassion, and
love manifest as a tendency simply to observe rather than make judgments.
Some would say that the "Almighty" decided one day to find someone and "Zap!”
they now have complete understanding. If that was the case, then how is
it determined who gets "Instant complete understanding"? If all that there
is functions by Law and all is in perfect balance, then how could anything
occur outside of the Law, which governs its’ existence? Based upon the previous,
it appears impossible to get "Instant complete understanding". To do so
would circumvent the natural learning process that we all choose to experience.
If all is in balance, then it is by such Law that love, understanding
and compassion in any degree become expressed in an individual through their
direct interaction of all things known to them through the expression of
such Law.
Many have made the judgment that, "It must be your Karma," or "You must learn
your Lessons," and "These are the reasons for your illness." Remember that
the term “Karma” translates to nothing more than “Action” Those who make
such a judgment are simply placing themselves in a "better or more enlightened"
position than the afflicted person. This type of attitude demonstrates
a condition that one may not, at this time, understand the function of Law
and its’ manifestations.
Those who have had some difficult times in the past may feel that they’ve
gotten a raw deal. Some may feel that they are not as good as others based
upon the difficulties of their life. This judgmental attitude, too, is
prevalent in our society and we would do well to correct it. How would
a person gain experience if they already had all the answers? How would
a person’s character be determined if there were no challenges? For example,
would we know love and compassion without also knowing adversity?
As a result of challenges faced by people, many, as a side effect, may develop
a tendency to be envious of those who are currently going though easier
times. This is not to say that everybody should go through the same troubles
and challenges arbitrarily that others are going through. However, there
is sometimes a desire or expectation that everybody should suffer the same
as themselves who are going through difficult times.
When a person is in some sort of despair, there is a certain limitation of
understanding, or a current realization relating to the particular issue
of despair. This being desired but not recognized, or admitted to by the
person in despair may prevent or delay a resolution of the issue. Thus the
despair continues. If the person were to consider other possibilities,
these most likely would present the solution, or at least the understanding
to end the despair. Another approach to these difficult times may be in
order. Ask yourself, "Are not the sum of your trials and tribulations responsible
for your current understanding?"
"Is there a desire for constructive growth?" If the answers are "yes", then
it may be safe to say that the challenges and difficulties experienced in
your life were necessary for the path you have chosen. They are the building
blocks for your character, that part of you in constant contact with the
function of spiritual aspects of Law.
As you think, so it is! This statement so overused, yet so powerful in its
manifestation of Law, yet, overlooked by so many. However, this is necessary
for we must be in certain conditions without the full realization of all
that there is. With this condition, we can function in the development of
that which we have chosen. As we continue our work, the realization of
all that there is becomes manifest. It is an internal process brought on
by our personal work and the desire to function within the boundaries of
the constructive principles associating to the spiritual aspects of Law.
An example is of two people who are walking on a road in a small town near
the coast. The scene is that of a cloudy day with beautiful trees all around.
As they both observe this, the first one thinks of what an unpleasant day
this is as it is cloudy. Therefore, his attitude is unpleasant. The second
person is thankful for the clouds as they bring the water to keep the beautiful
trees alive, and his attitude is that of thankfulness. As you can guess,
others they come into contact with will respond according to the realizations
of the two people previously set forth. Many say they seek enlightenment
thinking they don’t have it. So as you would expect, innumerable, nicely
and sometimes very wordy poems and prayers have been written regarding the
request for such enlightenment. As long as their current reality is such
that they believe that they don’t have it, then it must be so; through the
function of Law their reality manifests itself to them. Enlightenment is
separate and thus unobtainable to them.
Understanding spiritual Law and how it functions is the nature of the Work.
Knowing that by the manifestations of its attributes, the Law is the foundation
of the process, therefore, the manifestation of those attributes themselves
becomes known to us, as Law in our lives. Thus the nature of the Work functions
as the manifestation of associated principles within spiritual aspects of
Law.
